Founded in Italy in 1911, Billiani was a family-run factory producing curved wood cane chairs. Led by brothers Ottone, Orlando, Lino and Bruno Billiani, a third generation entered the firm in 1986 and Billiani became synonymous with large-scale seating production. 

Towards the end of the 1990s, Luigi Billiani, named after his grandfather and trained as an architect, brought design into the company’s repertoire and today Cristina Celestino, a Milan-based architect and designer, is the company’s artistic director. Chairs remain a central focus, as does the material: wood, the true leitmotif of the collection.
